Bayer Company

My company is Bayer and in this post I will talk about it.

I'm leaving on a train to Bayer at 8:37 am that lasted 20 min.

I needed two security cards, one for enter the area of bayer and another to enter certain areas of the buildings.

I made the practices with Peter, we were in a room with a computer and a laptop, both with connection to internet. We were almost all the time alone in this room.

We ate at 12 or 12:30 in the dining room and we paid with the card to access the area of Bayer. There were all kinds of food, salad, fish, potatoes, steak, so on.

I have used virtual machines, Backup and Microsoft programs.

The experiences in Germany

Hello again, I´m Salvador Fernández-Caparrós and I´ll explain more things about my experience in Köln.

First I´ll talk about Berlin, we went to Berlin one of the weekends at 5 in the morning by train and we arrived to Berlin at 1 in the afternoon, the travel by train takes 6 hours, we taked two trains and we waited a little in the stations.

We went to the east side of the wall of Berlín, there are a lot of diferent paintings.

We did a tour around the all city with a cool guy that we met in the residence and we went with him to a party in Berlin.

The residence in Berlin was very good, very clean and the beds are good and the residence organice a lot of activities during the week. The name of the residence is Amstel.

We had very good time here in Köln, always sunny and sometimes cloudy, because of that we can did a lot of barbacues with the german guys and with a spanish girls that we met in the residence, we can went out a lot of times so that was lucky and we went up the cathedral and it cost 1,50€ with the student card, in the top of the cathedral you can see all the city very well.

We went with the spanish girls to Phantasia LAND in Brühl. The entrance cost 37,50€ but if you want to go, you will have fun. The park have a lot of funfairs and you can go to all the funfairs in one day. The food there is not very expensive and you can go to all the funfairs and all the times that you want.

Here in Köln you can talk with very people in english and they´ll understand you. And about the transport, the metro is very puntual and in the panels appears the time when the metros will pass, but you must be carefull with the trains, because sometimes the trains comes late, the time appears too in the panel, but we went late to our company one day because the train comes 45 minutes later!!.

So, tomorrow I´ll be in Málaga again!, I did my final project here in Köln in the residence and in the next weeks I must give the project to my teachers Sergio, Agustín and Irene, then I´ll have the graduation of the course!. Now I must say good bye and continues muy studies in the university.
So, Good Bye!!

The Residence Kolpinghaus

Hello, I´m Salvador Fernández-Caparrós and I´ll tell some things about the residence Kolpinghaus.

Well I must say first that my experience in this residence is not very good because there are problems this year because they have very few workers because they will close the residence in July for reconstruct it and they will open in the future.

We are located very good in Köln, we can say that we are in the center of Köln, near Neumarkt.
We have very good views if we look at the window, we can see the cathedral very well. If you have hungry you can use the kitchens and cook something, but in our case the kitchens are all dirty and a lot of things are broken (we have one microwave for all the residence and it doesn´t work very good for example). The residence have in all the floors toilets that it contains showers and washing machines too, but you must pay 2€ if you want use the washing machine and 1,50€ if you want to use the dryer. In our case the toilets are all dirty too.

About our rooms anyone comes here in the 2 months that I still here to clean, you must clean your room and wash the bed clothes.

So I think if they reconstruct the residence well and the residence have a lot of workers can be a good residence in the future, but in our case it´s too bad.

My experiences in the company in Köln

Hello!, I´m Salvador Fernández-Caparrós and I´ll explain some things about my experience in the company called REWE.

REWE is an important company in Germany and in Europe, is something like Carrefour and Mercadona but more important, is strange that we don´t have REWE shops in Spain.

REWE sells mainly food but really sells al lot of more things, in Köln are a lot of REWE shops and you can buy a lot of things there.

I´m not working in the supermarket, of course not!, I´m working in a separate buildings only for software developers. I was working in my company programming in JSF language, is a program language that uses HTML and JAVA together, I did two programs in REWE that will be used by a lot of people, because I add some features to the webpage REWE Online for the workers of the shops.

We had two cards of REWE, one for get in the company (it opens the doors), and the other card for lunch free in the free buffet, all the people that works in REWE must pay the lunch but for us was free!

When we finished in the company they said that we did a very good job and if we want, exists a posibility that we can work there. I want continues my studies so I said no at that offer, but I think that is a very good opportunity.

I learned a lot in the company about JSF and the programming in general, if you know more or less english you can work without problems in the company.

Hello my name is Alvaro I have 22 years .

You know that phrase that says the grass is greener in the neighbor's yard?,
here it is literally true, there are many green areas scattered Cologne.

Im in Pathpoint located 2-3 minutes walk from Dom. This very well located, the receptionists are very nice people, the cleaning service is very good, there are kitchen and rest as hammocks, a pool ..., free drinking water (its free!), but ... there is always a but, no lift and we are on the third floor.

My teammates are Mario, Tomas and Curro, before coming here I had not talked much with them but here we are well aware, are very good people and we all work together in the kitchen or whatever it takes.

My company is called Kreisverwaltung des rhein-kreis is in Bergheim, a kind of council is very similar to the Junta de Andalucia, im working in the IT department and my job is to write scripts, php and care that leave a tikets workers own the company in an application, can be anything from computer repair to fix a printer, a RAM upgrade for example.

The weather is unpredictable, but still a very pleasant time, not too cold or too hot.

The city of Cologne in general is very nice, the Germans are very nice people and always helps you if you ask for help, the English language is essential here to understand you, most Germans can speak English very well.

Bergheim is a small city that is twenty-five minutes by train from central station in Cologne, the most characteristic monument is Aachener Tor.

The first thing I visited was the cathedral of Cologne, at an altitude of 170 meters on the outside is impressive, the inside is precious reliquary said to contain the three wise men. Curro and I climbed the tower of the cathedral, took a while to get on the end but the views are worth it.

The next thing I did was go to Amsterdam, we rented a van and drove up there, we enjoyed the day of the queen who is a huge party with boats crossing the canals, where the vehicle is the predominant bicycle there are lots. We toured most of the center of Amsterdam on foot.

The good and the bad that has our room is that we are four, but there are six beds in the room so they put two people in the room that have nothing to do with us, but that's what you can meet people from other places for example, you may be speaking English with a German journalist who is a German magazine and an Indian who is a reporter for a magazine India that the next day will cover a global excibicion.

Thanks to that we met Geremy, a professor at the language school, came with us to bridge the locks, also went to a market near the bridge. He told us he was going to a game convention, and decided to go see it, i was very curious, there were people dressed up and a medieval fair, among other things.

Language classes (German) have been short but intense, I would have liked to have been more time and learn more language; the teacher organized a boat trip on the Rhine and we take a nice afternoon.

I also had the fortune to go to Berlin with all partners, was an amazing trip, we had the good fortune to meet Federico, a receptionist at the residence who is from Argentina and also made tours, the tour we did with Federico was very good, we visited the most important places in the history of Berlin, would return without hesitation to go to Berlin again.

We have also gone to the zoo and botanical garden, the park's botanical garden is great for a walk, the zoo is not special but we found a good ride.

Cultural visit, we stayed in the King Tutankamon museum, museum of Colonia, chocolat museum, Gestapo museum and museum of perfum. All I have liked, you see the history from Colonia and its amazing , have a nice culture, you see too the horrible consecuences of the war.

The last trip we went to the city of Bonn, visited part of the city, including a church, monuments, bridge and the house of Beethoven.

It's a life experience that can hardly be repeated, I recommend it 100%.

Hello, my name is Mario and I am going to count little my experience for Cologne.

My lodging is Pathpoint, and this one very well with the

inconvenient only one of the room, for which it is small and her we have to share with persons who are coming.

For the rest the lodging is very good since we have to our disposition a complete and equipped kitchen, a zone of rest that though there it is not wifi we look for the form

s in order that

Internet beech.

Also this one very well placed, since we are placed to scanty minutes of the main station of trains.

The company in which I do the practices is Insigma. In the department that I have been even it does little he was taking charge of the servants (to install them, to supp

ort them, testearlos…).

In the new department they take charge of the technical service of some applications. The out-standing mas FordEcat, which treats herself about an application that all the workshops use Ford de Europa, with this application can be seen the pieces of every car, where one finds the piece, since and where every piece is mounted in the car…

The European included workshops the Spanish call here when they have some type of problem with the application, from here we connect in a remote way to the computer of the client and solve the problem.

They can manage to register between 3000 and 4000 incidents a month to European level.

With regard to Cologne it is very nice, has a system of impressive and very pun

ctual transport. We have visited some prominent sites of the city

as the cathedral of Cologne, the museum of chocolate…

Also we have visited Amsterdam, and as in Cologne the people also move v

ery much in bicycle, but in Amsterdam the number of bicycles is very much major. Our visit to Amsterdam

coincided with The Queen's Day, it is an experience that I recommend to the whole world and that nobody should stop spend if one presents the occasion.

Visit to Bayer with IEESN

Well, this is my 3rd post here.

As for work, this week has been normal.
I have been surpassing satisfactorily all the tests they have sent me hardly without the help of my office mates.

For the moment I have finished all the exercises they have sent me, now I'm waiting for new challenges about the programming language they have assign me, JQuery.

On Friday we visited the Bayer business because we found on Facebook a group which organized a guided visit to that place.

On Friday night my friend Salvador and I met a girl that we met in the first barbacue, Vanesa. We went for a walk around the city and we got into a bar to drink beer and talk about a lot of things.

In the residence the things are very strange. On Sunday, for example, the kitchen in the 6th floor is closed for no apparent reason. To have lunch or dinner it's a joke, because we have to go from a floor to other, looking for an empty kitchen where we can cook our food.

First experiences and feelings in Köln.

Hello! My name is Francisco Peral (Curro) and I have 21 years.

This is the first entry that I write and in this one it'll tell you a bit my first impressions of stay in the city and to describe brief the activities I have done in those days.

To begin, I have to say that the city looks like to me a magic place, especially by the magnificent cathedral 'Dom', who beside being a brilliant tourist center, is a key element to orientate myself (due to its height can be seen from almost anywhere in the city), when I go around town and want to return to the hostel where I reside 'Pastpoint Cologne', which is to five minutes from the cathedral.

The hostel is great. It has a great kitchen, two courts (one of them with two comfortable hammocks) and a great room of rest.

My roommates, Mario Lozano, Tomás Galiana and Álvaro Bueno are brilliant and we help ourselves very much between ourselves.

In addition there are two very handsome and nice receptionists who speak well the Spanish and help us very much.

The place where I realize the practices is in a city near to Köln called Bergheim and is the council of that place. I perform my job in the IT department of the same this building.

The people I work with are very friendly and care about my comfort on the job and help me help me in the possible thing in the comprehension and understanding with them, which sometimes is a bit difficult, due to my Englishman's low level and his different accents when they speaks english language, which does not handle very well all.

In these days I barely had time to stop writing in the blog or start with the project because we have not stopped visiting museums and other places in the city, like a big park where we did barbecue with German companions.

In the next days I will write a new entry counting new activities and experiences.

Nothing more for this entry. Francisco Peral Segura (Curro).

The Metro in Köln

Hello, my name is Cara Ruiz, Francisco Ruben and this is my first comment on the blogg.

Here in Germany, everything is the minute, the metro and the train is arriving by the minute,
delaying time.
The situation of the subway stations
are located at key sites or else very close to them. The metro is very good to move without the car as it reaches anywhere you want.

We move as well in the subway, without compromising when you ride twice already know perfectly well their merger.

In this picture we see the central railway station, as its name says is the meeting place of all places.

I go to my work, I have to take the underground number 1 which is situated in Neumarkt stop and it takes 8 minutes to get to the University stop is where I work and getting back I hav
e to do the same operation, without any loss.

And here in this photo you can see my best friends, we are in the subway station waiting for the number 5 without them would be very different Köln

Another week in Cologne

Hi once again!

I am writing here again.
This week I worked from Monday to Thursday. Actually I am doing some testing in JQuery, which begins a little complicated, but it doesn't matter.

On Tuesday we went with the german people to a barbacue in a park. It is a nice place where there were a lot of people cooking, talking and playing. There, I met a girl from Vigo called Vanesa.

The people in Rewe are very friendly. At 12 o'clock, everybody go to have lunch at the business' buffet. The food is so good. There is a lot of variety of food, even for vegetarian people.

The other days I went with Salvador to see the city and take photos.

On Saturday, Salvador and I will go to see Dom and on Sunday we will go again to a barbacue.

Nothing else for the moment.
Auf wiedersehen!

Firsts days in Cologne

Hello, my name is Antonio Villalobos and this is my first blog entry.

The first impression is that the city is beautiful, very green and very clean.
People here are very friendly and help you if lost.

Today, I went to REWE, the company I will work for the next two months.
I'm on the first floor and go to the java programming.

In the office, there were two men, whose names I can't remember, and a girl, Ricki, a student who we were with yesterday and who showed us the city.

The next photo is one of the bridges on the Rhine, which is famous because couples get a lock with their names, tie it to the bridge and throw the key to the river.

Well, this is all for today, another day I will tell more. We need some rest, in three days, we have not stopped walking to see the city.
